The gods have blessed us Times moves at their command Taking the stars

^^\/\/\/\/^^ For in walking thro' the Strand and Fleet Street
one morning at seven o clock, I observed there was not one shop open tho it had been daylight and the sun up above three hours -- the inhabitants of London choosing voluntarily to live much by candlelight and sleep by sunshine, and yet often complaining a little absurdly of the duty on candles and the high price of tallow. -- Benjamin Franklin

The Sadness
It's not that I'm addicted to sunlight
-- No more than any primate --
I just find that Daylight Savings Time Suits my body's natural rhythms,
My need for open prairies Framed with high mountain peaks And rivers winding through Deep gourged canyons As their waters rush to open seas. Cities look better
Draped in lights and darkness, Worlds, beneath the eyes
Of inconstant suns. If we were nocturnal,
The moon would be our goddess,
But we are children of the fire
That brings life To the earth around us. Lisa Jain Thompson

^^\/\/\/\/^^ or is it fall forward?
Stalking the Wild Clock
I wonder how god keeps track of time
When we move it willy-nilly back and forth. Has he appointed some archangel time keeper To change his celestial clockwork, Or does he simply replace his time pieces
With a word or a wave of his hand? God only knows if he's gone digital
Or gives a whit about the foibles of man. Lisa Jain Thompson

^^\/\/\/\/^^ Post-materialism
Legislative "nanny" bills proposed this year to help you be as good as the lawmakers think you should be:
And I bet you thought you knew what was good for you.
Let Big Mama protect you from yourself.

^^\/\/\/\/^^ I doubt this needs an introduction at this point
Ann of a Thousand Slurs
I was going to have a few comments about the other Democratic nominee, John Edwards, but it turns out that you have to go into rehab if you use the word 'faggot.'
-- Columnist Ann Coulter at the Conservative Political Action Conference
Ann, Ann,
I've defended you, That you aren't a man, Taken you at your word That you are Who you say you are, Told people that your large hands And prominent adam's apple Don't mean a damn thing As far as sex determination goes, Then you go off [again] Making slurs against gays Like some homophobic crossdresser, Disparaging homosexuals As if you were a stone dyke lesbian, -- You sure like to make it hard For someone to defend you. ^^\/\/\/\/^^ Fashion Questions for Britney. Lindsay, and Lisa Nowak
Are panties necessary apparel for a night on the town?
Are Depends a road-trip must? Discuss.

^^\/\/\/\/^^ I took the wrong DoD bus and spent an enjoyable hour cruising to and fro' across the Potomac River during a light snow fall
Three for March
1. In The Early March Snow Snow, traffic, Stuck in the middle With the D.C. disability, We are loosed from time As the world slows Into imperceptible motion And forward progress approaches Absolute zero. Potomac dark against
Low white banks, Cherry trees still Full closed budded, Jefferson shakes his head At our rude morning folly. Lisa Jain Thompson March 2007 2. View from the Navy Yard Grey bottom, grey sky, Grey city waiting out The last two years Before we pretend The world is reborn And our new savior arrived; The few joyful months
Before reality sets in And politics as usual Regains its upper hand. Lisa Jain Thompson March 2007 3. Crossing Back Arlington Cemetery, Potomac Park, Pentagon to the right; Cars, bridges, Departing airplanes Low against the sky; A crystal city Without sparkle Hanging out against The morning rush, Carbon monoxide And diesel fumes, Perfuming the falling snow. Bye bye Mr. Richard B. Cheney,
Drove your country to a battle And found winning wasn't easy, The good old boys are chanting neotheory, Singing " this will be the day that we die. "This will be the day we all die." Now for six years we've been on our own Two more and you'll be gone But that's not how it used to be When the poet commanded the king and queen In an ancient voice borrowed from Woody Guthrie He spoke the words that we want to hear And while the king was looking down,
The Crown Prince stole his thorny crown; Our knights were lost in space No planning was in place; While a woman read from Robert's book, And a new man spoke the words we want, We sang holy words on the net The day our hope revived. Bye bye Mr. Richard B. Cheney Drove your country to a battle And found winning isn't easy The good old boys are chanting neotheory, Singing " this will be the day that we die. "This will be the day we all die." Bye bye Mr. G. W. Bush, You're as happy as a hawg In an East Texas waller, You don't know come here from sic'em, Singing " this will be the day that we die. "This will be the day we all die." Lisa Jain Thompson March 2007 there goes my security clearance ...

^^\/\/\/\/^^ The Power of Blind Faith
MIAMI, Florida (AP) -- A convicted sex offender on trial in the abduction and slaying of 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford told authorities that he hoped to meet her in heaven and apologize, Detective Gary Atchison, the lead investigator in the case, testified Tuesday.
"He said he had to forgive himself before God could forgive him, and that someday he would see Jessica Lunsford in heaven and he would apologize to her."

^^\/\/\/\/^^ the nonsense of commuting
Connecting
Chilly wind Blowing through the train platform, Causing me to off-balance, Grasp for something steady And break a nail, Ripping it, bleeding it, Staining my blouse as it drips. My body cannot focus,
Cannot compute Without dropping Bits and pieces of reality Like some media-stalked britney. I bounce off the metro door, Slide in next to a woman Darkly focused on her paper And suck the microbes From my bloody finger. Lisa Jain Thompson March 2007 __/\/\/\/\__

^^\/\/\/\/^^ This isn't for the man who can't count the bodies,
Can't comfort the families, can't say when he's wrong, Claiming I'm the decider, like some sort of messiah, While another day passes and a hundred souls gone -- Mary Chapin Carpentier On with Song from The Calling ^^\/\/\/\/^^ PEACE
