^^\/\/\/\/^^ The sun is out, I am no longer sad. The closest star may work much better than state of the art meds, but the sun is so much more physically addictive and its withdrawal so disruptive, even if only for a few months around the winter solace.

^^\/\/\/\/^^ left unspoken
Before Chicago
We have been here before:
A war,
An election,
A young anti-war candidate
Threatening to over throw
The status quo, A voice that speaks
For the rest of us Caught up in a great crusade Ending with a senator shot
And a long last train ride While the war goes on.
Bobby on the hotel floor,
Rosary in his hand,
The blood pooling under his head
Never ends. Lisa Jain Thompson

Einstein’s Universe
Einstein’s universe,
Violent and evolving, Full of birth and deaths,
Including the cosmos; A primordial fireball And all else follows, Filled with dark matter
And high spinning galaxies That living fast but do not die, Aswim in a sea Of nonbaryonic matter That lurks beyond Our visible reach; Pushed by some
Unknown quintessence To expand ever faster, Some cosmic constant Of quantum disruption That coalesces into a universe
That is more not us
Than made of atoms: If we removed everything we see
From the universe around us,
Every atom, every star and light, Every bit a life on every planet, Creation would not blink Or notice our passage;
We are made from stuff Composing less
Than four percent of existence, In the long run, The larger picture, We are insignificant Compared to all we are not, Less than a spot
On the face of god.

^^\/\/\/\/^^ meanwhile in lesbian ask and tell
Electrajett
Carmen Electra has lesbians all fired up after she told friends she's planning to drop a bombshell at one of the year's most anticipated gay gatherings.
The sexy single, who split from husband Dave Navarro last year, is set to perform with her burlesque troupe the Bombshell Babes at the Dinah Shore Weekend in Palm Springs, Calif., at the end of the month -- and rumors persist she'll use the four-day lesbian festival to announce her romance with rocker Joan Jett.
An event insider tells Star magazine, "Carmen and Joan are planning on enjoying all the fun the weekend has to offer, and they'll be making a very clear statement to the world by attending together."
Reports of the couple's romance started circulating last year when Electra spent time with Jett at the 2006 Dinah Shore Weekend.
![]() Jett cast Electra as a bisexual temptress in her 2006 video "A.C.D.C."
A source says, "They've been dating since before Thanksgiving. They don't co-habitate but they do spend a lot of time together."

^^\/\/\/\/^^ in the middle of some migraine meds I think
Angel of Chaos
I float
Like some califragilistic time traveller, Popping in and out of the flow; Either time or I is discontinuous,
Jaunting between the joints; When I try to carefully reconnect, The world shrugs and slips aside, Leaving me tumbling bootless headlong
Inside outside the lines.

To Sail Mons Olympus
We have water,
Enough at the Martian south pole
To cover the planet to thirty-six feet; Water plus oxygen Equals a probability for life. Onward to Mars!
Let's prove once and ever
How "special" our creation might be;
Unless you think your god was afraid
To move upon the face of the waters of Mars.
For the waters of Mars
Are gathered into one place; We shall free them once more And let the red sands bring forth Moving martians that have life
And fowl that may fly abover Mars In the open firmament of the heavens.

^^\/\/\/\/^^ Claims of sexual assault in the military rose 24 percent in 2006, according to a Pentagon report released Wednesday. An older study found that nearly half of all assaults in the Army take place in barracks.
Women tend to get a little more privacy in Iraq. The soldiers who serve on some of the most dangerous missions enjoy some of the nicest accommodations. (Some even get to stay in quarters that have been jazzed up with reliable hot water and air conditioning.) Here, groups of two and three share bunk beds in small barracks rooms, and women are usually housed in one part of the building. Doors have locks, but they don't always work. To ward off sexual assaults in the barracks, female soldiers below the rank of sergeant follow a buddy system at all times-for getting around the base during the day as well as for making bathroom visits in the middle of the night.
Men are also encouraged to use a buddy system, for a different purpose: Having another soldier with you is supposed to keep you in line or provide a witness should trouble occur.

^^\/\/\/\/^^ life and all that
Working on the Chain Gang
We're all serving time
For a crime we didn't commit, Spending our days waking unforgiven
For some god awful sin Our parents must have did. Our all powerful all knowing creator
Still has a hard on for Eve And the apple that she ate, And since we reflect poorly
On his perfection, He would cast us all into hell Rather than admit he made a mistake When he let his arbitrary decisions
And whimsical demands Set the course for what's left of eternity. Lisa Jain Thompson

Dry Well
We are in the last throes
of Howdy's presidency:
The stench will linger on The body politic For decades yet to come. Not that it was George's fault
We elected him -- In some ways we are stupider
Than he ever thought of being, Assuming he ever had a thought That someone else hadn't first Spoon fed him. Lisa Jain Thompson

^^\/\/\/\/^^ the nature of the beast
You Oughta Know
If we all looked alike,
Paris Hilton's looks Would be equal to her talent And we would have to find Some other rationale than our skin color To separate ourselves from the stranger. If God would truly exist,
His religions would be more consistent Than the mismashed theologies Infecting this planet
And we woud have found Some other reason than our beliefs
To wage war on the infidel. Lisa Jain Thompson

when he has said he thought he made a mistake. Oops.

^^\/\/\/\/^^ what is
Dance with Me, Henry
Slipping from my grasp,
The world falls ever further away, Spiraling tumble down,
Note by note, Past the bottom of the cleft
Until I can no longer hear Any sound But my own ragged breath And every word is mine Or some distant god's While we wait for the universe To reboot still again.

^^\/\/\/\/^^ big finish
Seconds Before and After
There is a sea lion loose in the bathroom,
Diving for fish in the toilet,
The neighbors complain about the barking at night When his friends come over to party. The owl in the attic has forgotten who he is,
The shark in the basement is sharpening his pearly whites,
I'm in the living room watching American Idol, Sharon's at her 'puter doing her whatever.
Such is the state of the state of the state:
Buzzards and vulcans spiral overhead, The Big Top is packing its brightly colored cars, Preparing to roll quickly out of town While the lonesome ringmaster tries his worst to explain
What happened to the lion tamer and where he's gone And the clowns rub off their stark white makeup, Avoiding all requests for photos and old times' sake. The sea lion shakes his shiny slick head
And books a ticket on a westward plane As the neighbors continue to bitch and moan At the high price of geeks at the circus sideshow. Lisa Jain Thompson
