Fragmenting with Sappho![]() Please
Please,
My Darling, Don't be so fucking gentle. I won't break, Although I may moan a little If your tongue is As nimble as your brain. Garlands
I must have done well
When I slept with her As she remembers me fondly And garlands me with her poetry. Whisper
Several millenniums
And deliberate destructions Cannot shout down What I whisper in your ear. Peach
A peach tree
Requires gentle tending. Do you prefer Freestone or clinging? Ocean
I suppose
That the ocean could Swallow me When she calls, But I have known her for a while And do not believe that That is her plan. Along the Shoreline
She walks with me along the island seashore,
Her arm draped fondly upon my shoulder, And whispers her words for my ear alone, So I might speak them when my moment comes. Copyright Lisa Jain Thompson
