Poem attributed to Sappho
in the short story "Blooded" The crystal waters of the Aegean Sea,
Warmed by the afternoon sun, Washed over the poet woman Who waited for love to seize her. Beneath the moon’s full risen gaze She found instead a warrior’s presence Filled her world with pleasure. ![]() Copyright Lisa Jain Thompson May 3, 1998 |
